The West End in April brings three undeniable signs of spring: mild weather, drizzly rain, and stunning pink cherry blossoms. After a long winter season, I am so relieved to finally feel the warmth of the sun, and although I enthusiastically welcome the opportunity to start outfit planning for spring, a part of me still isn't ready to say goodbye to my winter wardrobe.
The irony is, all winter long I dream about shoving my coats in the back of my closet and living in light fabrics and vibrant pastels. But when the time comes to actually put my cozy sweaters away, suddenly they're all I want to wear. Why?! God knows, in the sweltering heat of summer, I'll miss enveloping myself in soft, comfy faux fur.
I've always been a bit of a fashion contrarian. I remember as a kid, insisting on wearing head-to-toe black on the hottest day of summer, and choosing to abstain from a cozy winter coat on the chilliest day in January.
I guess some things never change. So here I am, contrary, indecisive, and a little overheated, but wearing faux fur while I can.
